Description
Mark your calendars for March 24, 2012, when von Stiehl will host the first-ever Wine Futures and One-Of-A-Kind Barrel Tastings. Our winemakers will be on hand to pull samples from the barrels in our cellars for you to taste, forecast, and purchase at a discounted price. Aric thought it would be a unique opportunity to allow our customers to be the first to try some of his newest additions to the wine cellar. The anticipation is killing those of us who love our dry reds, knowing it will still be many months before these vintages hit the shelves. Now you can be first in line to try the old vine Merlot and Zinfandel that were destemmed, crushed, fermented, and put in barrels Over There this past fall. One we are especially excited to try is the Estate Barrel-Aged Marechal Foch made entirely from grapes grown in our own Stony Creek vineyard. Also available will be the barrel-fermented Chardonnay made in the sur lie method, which we will talk about during your tasting. Your session will include appetizers, 5 one-of-a-kind barrel tastings, and past vintage reserve tastings. Cost is $20/person and space is limited, so call soon to reserve your spot at either noon to 1:30, or 2:00 to 3:30. 800-955-5208.

Description
The original von Stiehl Winery building is located on the north side of Navarino Street; two blocks from Lake Michigan on the Ahnapee River. The Italianate four story building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guest areas include the third story tasting room, a 2,700 square foot terrace, and an underground vault available for special and private events.
Across the street is the second and current winery; otherwise known as Over There. Production moved to Over There in June 2011. The 11,100 square foot facility houses bottling, production, and wine storage rooms. It is available to see during any of our regularly scheduled tours.
