Von Stiehl Winery honored in top 4% of International Wine Competition
The prestigious Double Gold Medal was awarded to von Stiehl Winery’s 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon at the Tasters Guild 11th Annual Consumers’ Wine Judging, in Washington, D.C. Of the nearly 700 wines entered from all over the world only 28 wines were designated Double Gold by a panel of 66 consumer judges. This tasting note on Wisconsin’s own was published in the Tasters Guild Journal Holiday issue:
von Stiehl 2003 American Cabernet Sauvignon, Wisconsin Medium body with well-balanced fruit aromas and gentle tannins. Nicely crafted, ready to drink with a variety of backyard grilled meats from beef to lamb.

A Gold Medal was awarded to the Late Harvest Riesling, a sweet dessert wine. Silvers were given to their Lakeshore Fume, Riesling and Cranberry. Awarded bronze medals were the Oktoberfest, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Satin Red, Gewurztraminer, Kirsche and Harvest Apple.
Von Stiehl Winery is located at 115 Navarino Street in Algoma and is open seven days a week for tours and tasting from 9am to 5pm.
