The Door County Maritime Museum

Stop by Wisconsin's oldest winery the next time you are heading to Sturgeon Bay, in Door County. Visit our tasting room, and pick up the perfect bottle to enjoy during your stay in Sturgeon Bay.

There is much to do in Sturgeon Bay, even in the heart of winter. This is a great time to visit the many art galleries and museums located in and around this picturesque town. One of our favorite places to spend an afternoon is The Sturgeon Bay Museum.

The Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay is open seven days a week throughout the year. If you are at all interested in maritime history in the United States, this is a must see. Permanent and revolving exhibits coexist in the galleries, where you will find scale models of ships built in Sturgeon Bay, and a chronological history of shipbuilding, from indian dugouts to the lumber schooners of the Great lakes to ships built in Sturgeon Bay today.

The Winter Speakers' Series continues in March with two interesting events. On March 4, 2010, Peter Kerwin presents "Marine Travelift's 1,000-ton Lift". On March 25, listen to Bob Desh speak about "The International Ice Patrol". More details are available at The Door County Maritime Museum.

You'll have enjoyed your Wisconsin wine so much while visiting Sturgeon Bay that you'll want to pick up some more on your way back home. The tasting room at our historic Algoma winery is open seven days a week, 11am - 4pm (January through April).
