A Luncheon for Ladies

It's no secret that we love wine here at von Stiehl, our Algoma, Wisconsin, Winery. We believe that our wine can stand alone. That said, it need also be noted that food brings out the best in wine. Together, food and wine make life worth living.

We offer wine and cheese pairings and wine and chocolate pairings in the tasting room of our Wisconsin Winery. These are tasty, but they really just whet the appetite. If cheese and wine can taste so good together, how would roast chicken and vegetables taste with wine, or filet mignon? The possibilities are endless. The mind reels.

Next weekend, let us cook for you. Join us for our Ladies of the Vine Fall Gourmet Luncheon, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The day begins with a tour of "Over There", our new production facility. We'll then move to our rathskeller, where we'll enjoy a 5 course luncheon. Each course will be paired with one of our Wisconsin Wines.

This is an event for ladies. Call your closest friends, your co-workers, your sisters and cousins. Call your mother. Call your daughter. Spend a few hours in good company, enjoying good food and good wine. If you're hesitating, ask yourself "Why not?".

Please call 1.800.955.5208 to make your reservation.

Von Stiehl Harvest Luncheon

Our livelihood depends on a good fall harvest (and of course the subsequent creation of our Algoma, Wisconsin, wine) Maybe that's why we take so much pleasure in celebrating the fall harvest here at our Algoma, Wisconsin winery.

July Events at von Stiehl Wisconsin Winery

Several super fun events are on the horizon at our Algoma Wisconsin Winery. Algoma is located at the gateway to Door County, on the shores of Lake Michigan. It is a small town with a big personality, and we think it's worth a visit.

This Saturday, July 9, 2011, is our annual Ladies' Fest. It runs for 8 hours and you and your friends are welcome to stay the whole time. There will be massages, cool vendors, chocolate, and plenty of Wisconsin Wine. You'll lunch, learn to belly dance, and listen to great music by The Kerry Michaels Duo and The Mulligans. Doors open to the ladies at 11 a.m.

Friends having fun at the 2010 Ladies' Fest.

The following Saturday, July 16, is the first of our Summer Cuisine Concert Series on the Terrace. We welcome the John Lambert Trio for an afternoon of "solid rock on the cutting edge". We anticipate hearing both original songs and favorite covers as we sip Wisconsin Wine on our lovely new terrace. The music lasts from noon to 4 p.m.

Keith Abler will perform at our Cuisine Concert Series on Saturday July 23, 2011. Keith asks only that he never be taken seriously. With that in mind, the afternoon is sure to be delightfully amusing; oh yes, there will be good music, too. As always, our Cuisine Concert Series run from noon to 4 p.m. on the terrace of our Algoma Wisconsin Winery.

See The Bluegills live at von Stiehl on July 30th. The weather may be a bit steamy by then, and this trio of Chicago-style blues players will help you chill out.

We not only pair great wine with the music during our Cuisine Concert Series, we also pair great food. Consider it a holistic experience, and enjoy.

Algoma is the perfect place to stop and refuel (both your transportation and yourself) on the way to Door County this summer. It is also a great spot in and of itself. Arrive by car, boat, or bike. Stay for an hour or a week, and while you're here, we hope you'll swing by von Stiehl Wisconsin Winery for a tour, a taste, and maybe some live music and food.

Wine, Dine, and Travel East

Spend Sunday, May 1, exploring some of the marvels of the Eastern world with a few of your good friends.  Travel East is the next Ladies of the Vine event at our Algoma Wisconsin Winery. This will be a fun afternoon of feasting, sipping our delicious Wisconsin Wine, and uncovering some of the mysteries of the Orient.

If you've always been curious about yoga but never dared to try a class, take part in a fun introductory yoga class at Travel East. Try your hand at belly dancing - it's actually super fun. Learn a little about Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of living in harmony with your surroundings - it's fascinating. Watch acupuncture and acupressure demonstrations, and learn how fortune cookies are made. It will be an informational and fun day.

Then, of course, there is the food and wine. Our luncheon will be catered by the Mongolian Grill in Green Bay, and it will be a veritable feast. Try a little of everything, and be sure to bring your appetite; there will be more than a dozen types of meats, vegetables, noodles and sauces. Savor two glasses of our Wisconsin wine along with your meal.

Join us for Travel East at our Algoma Wisconsin Winery, Sunday, May 1, 2011, between noon and 3 p.m. Call 800-955-5208 to reserve your spot.

A Glamorous Superbowl Sunday

As everyone here in Wisconsin knows, the Superbowl is this Sunday, February 6, 2011. This is a thrilling time for fans of the Green Bay Packers - meaning this is a thrilling time for just about everyone we see here at our Algoma Wisconsin Winery.

We're looking forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with a few of our Glamorous Ladies of the Vine, otherwise known as women who like our Wisconsin Wine and who have attended one of our LOTV events. This Sunday at GLAMOROUS ME!, our ladies will be treated to a beautifying afternoon and lunch at Algoma's Farm Market Kitchen, close to our winery.

Two glamorous LOTV ladies.

Learn tantalizing new ways to wrap a scarf, and discover fun ways to accent your own hair with hair extensions and pieces. Shop for eye and lip products from Mary Kay, and memorialize the afternoon with a professional photograph from Harmann's Studio's.

Never fear! No event at our Wisconsin Winery fails to include food and wine. Glamorous Ladies will feast upon a sensible meal of soups, salads, and fresh baked bread, followed by not-so-sensible chocolates and cookies by Kattywompus Konfection.

We promise you will be finished by the kick-off, and as soon as the game is over, your boyfriends and spouses will notice how glamorous you are.

Call 1-800-955-5208 for additional information.

Wisconsin Wine Club Perks

Members of our Wisconsin Winery Ladies of the Vine Club (or LOTV) are in for a treat. In addition to receiving free tours and discounts on gift merchandise and winery events, LOTV members are invited to several unique events each year. If you aren't yet a member of LOTV, don't despair. You become one when you sign up for a LOTV event at our historic Algoma Wisconsin Winery.

The next such event takes place on November 6, 2010. LOTV Untasted Spaces invites participants on a special tour of our wine cellars and winery buildings, old and new. We'll let you see our laboratory and computer room, and reveal more about the wine making process than we normally do. Look forward to chilling ghost stories and taste what few have tasted before - raw wine from our tanks and barrels.

We'll stop by the lovely old T. Charles Saloon, where participants will be treated to a special wine and cheese pairing while learning how this historic barroom will be restored and added to the new winery. We'll then move into the von Stiehl tasting room to finish the day with a pairing of wine and chocolate.

Participants of LOTV Untasted Spaces will be among the first to hear about our new "cuisine concerts", planned for the summer of 2011, and the Stiehl Ball. Are you intrigued yet?

This tour will be given on Saturday, November 5, at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. For more details, please visit our Wisconsin Winery Events page.

To sign up, call 800-955-5208.

LOTV Spring Fun

This weekend is supposed to be lovely - sunny and mild. It will be the perfect time to get out of Green Bay and head to our Algoma Wisconsin Winery. Stop by as you head up to Door County for a weekend of fresh air and outdoor activity. Pick up a bottle or two of Wisconsin wine to enjoy while you are there. Or just enjoy time in and around Algoma.

Something fun is always cooking at our Wisconsin Winery. The Ladies of The Vine are gathering this Sunday, April 18, 2010 for "Aroma and Arranging". From 1 to 3:30. They'll be learning how to create astounding floral arrangements and centerpieces with the help of folks from Steele Street Floral.

How often do you take time to examine your sense of smell? During "Aroma and Arranging", we'll talk about how taste and smell are connected. Flowers, food and our own Wisconsin State Wine will all be sampled. Call 920-487-5208 for more details.

Our tasting room has been expanded, so more folks now fit comfortably. Hope to see you this weekend!
