Country Music, Wisconsin Wine
The Cuisine Concert series at our Algoma Wisconsin Winery continues on Saturday, August 13, with the Modern Day Drifters. It's hard to sit still when listening to music by this country band from Door County. Jason Leist fronts the band; his deep, smooth voice moves audiences no matter what their age. He's joined on stage by his brother Brian, cousins Mike and John McCaulley, and Bobby Brauer, no relation.
We'll serve some tasty country-style food on the 13th, along with a selection of Wisconsin cheeses and crackers. Our Wisconsin Wine will be available for purchase as well. Ask us which wines best compliment the food and cheese, or try several and see for yourself. We've recently bottled a new batch of Framboise and it's ready to drink.
Since Algoma's Shanty Days Festival takes place the weekend of August 13, the Modern Day Drifters Cuisine Concert will start at 1 p.m. and run until 5 p.m. Drop by for a while if you're in town for Shanty Days, and check out Shanty Days if your in town for the Cuisine Concerts.
Our Cuisine Concerts take place outside on our terrace, where seating is available both in the shade and sun. In the event of rain, we host our Cuisine Concerts in our limestone tunnels. It's such a beautiful setting we know folks who hope for rain!
Our Wisconsin Wine Club
Our Wisconsin Wine Club is a great gift for anyone - including you.
Once each quarter, our Algoma Wisconsin Winery ships out a gift box containing a selection of our Wisconsin wine. Recipients never know what will arrive - red wine, white wine, fruit wine, or a combination. A big hunk of tasty Wisconsin cheese will be shipped along with the wine, and another food item as well.
This month we sent out Naughty Girl Red and our Dry Cherry wines. Organic Muenster cheese from Organic Valley Dairy accompanied the wine, as did a box of small, buttery, spring onion crackers. The combination of the wine, cheese, and crackers was really fine. We work hard to find successful pairings (it's a tough job…). All you have to do is open the box and enjoy.
Our Wisconsin Wine Club is a great idea for anyone who may be feeling tired of the same old wine and cheese they always purchase. It is easy to get into a rut when selecting wine - we tend to go with what we know. It is also easy to spend hours standing in front of the cheese counter, trying to imagine which cheese will best complement the wine. In short, it can be an exhausting process, and if the end results don't meet expectations, it can be downright dispiriting.
We hope our Wisconsin Wine and Cheese Club will bring a little joy into your life. It's fun to give presents and it's fun to get presents. Give the gift of wine and cheese to someone you love. Then give it to yourself!

Winter in Door County
Winter in Door County is idyllic. Think romantic weekends cuddling by the fire in a vacation cabin or B&B. Think families playing together in the great outdoors. Think of skiing and snowshoeing with a group of friends. Imagine yourself flying over the snow on a snowmobile, ice fishing on Green Bay, or quietly cantering through the forest on horseback. Yes, Door County is a wonderland in winter time.
If you are traveling to Door County some weekend soon, stop by our Algoma Wisconsin Winery on your way north. The perfect end to a day of winter recreation is to share a bottle of our Wisconsin Wine by the fire.
Sip on Doc Stiehl's Cherry Bounce, a wonderful blend of cherry wine and cherry brandy - it will warm you from the inside out. Share a bottle of Meritage, a uniquely Wisconsin wine that is earthy and full. Serve the kids our Sparkling Grape Juice. The gift shop and tasting room at our Wisconsin winery is also a good place to find chocolate treats and Wisconsin cheeses to share on winter nights in Door County.
