National Drink Wine Day
Â
There just weren't enough holidays until National Drink Wine Day joined the calendar. Admittedly, this is still a relatively unknown holiday, and few (if any) folks will be given the day off from work. Nonetheless, we're doing our part to spread the word here at von Stiehl,
Let's be clear about something: the way to celebrate National Drink Wine Day is NOT to drink wine all day. Wine is to be sipped and savored. Less is more, when it comes to drinking wine. Did we really say that?
That said, we invite one and all to celebrate National Drink Wine Day with wine tasting at our Algoma, Wisconsin Winery. Sample up to seven wines, and when you find one you can't live without, buy a bottle and take it home. We pour 30 Wisconsin in the tasting room, and we're open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Consider trying our Winter Sampler, which includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Barrel Select Cabernet, Merlot, Meritage, Satin Red, and Naughty Girl. If you like the taste pours, you can take home the real Winter Sampler Kit. It should help the remainder of winter pass more enjoyably.

Even if you can't make it to our Wisconsin Winery, we hope you'll celebrate National Drink Wine Day at home. Share a really special bottle of wine with a really special person or two. Now that's an event worth celebrating.

The Wisconsin Wines of Summer
Summer means long evenings. After a full day of work, folks head out for walks along the shores of Lake Michigan and bike rides on the Ahnapee State Trail. They waterski and jet ski and set sail on Lake Michigan to watch the sunset over the Door Peninsula. Summer means being outside as much as possible.
Summer evenings are also ideal for sharing Wisconsin wine with friends and loved ones.
The von Stiehl Summer Sampler provides everything you need for a summer evening with friends, and more. It includes 10 bottles of our Wisconsin wine (the ones we think are best for warm weather). Also included are six plastic wine glasses - essential if you plan to enjoy a glass of wine while on a boat or at the beach (offer expires 10-1-11).
We also stock nifty suctioned holders at our gift shop / Wisconsin wine tasting room. These come in handy when you're rocking on a boat out on the lake; your bottle of wine will not go flying across the deck when secured with one of these. Our insulated picnic totes will keep your wines the right temperature until it's the right moment to enjoy them.
Drop by our Wisconsin Winery the next time you're in Algoma, or visit our shop online. Don't let another summer evening go by without Wisconsin wine!

The Third Clue
Santa returned from his jaunt to Wisconsin dragging a kayak behind his sleigh and he has no idea why! Santa was so angry when he left that he pushed Comet and Dasher a little too hard. Dasher blew a reindeershoe and limped through the air like a...well there aren't many similes for that one.
Feeling bad and wanting to “smooth” things over, Santa opened a bottle of Cherry Bounce and shared it with Dasher, Bart, and Comet. The bottle of Bounce briskly disappeared.
Bart asked Santa if there was any sight or sound from Mrs. Klaus. Santa got a tip from Sallie at the winery. Sallie said she saw Mrs. Klaus come in three separate times to sample the same six wines. Mrs. Klaus let a few things slip to Sallie. She donated half of Santa's red coats to the Salvation Army, then sought out a delightful massage at the spa in Hotel Sierra. She sashayed across the river to Captain's Walk Winery and caused a bottle of their Disappearing Treasure to live up to its name. Sallie said that in her last visit, Mrs. Klaus mentioned she was going to a delightful cabin north of Algoma to have a cup of something to sober up.
Comet, Dasher, and Bart were at the edge of their seat in anticipation: had Santa finally found her and was he about to say where this cabin was? Santa said that while she didn't want to be seen, he saw her with Donner and Blitzen. He parked behind that cabin to sneak a peak. Afraid of being spotted, he hurried the takeoff; that's when he snagged the kayak.

The Second Clue
Mrs. Naughty Klaus
Second Clue – Here's the Dirt...
Someone should have bought stock in hand sanitizer because the elves are bringing it in by the truckload. Bart has been trying to focus on a new wooden helicopter design, but he keeps getting sidetracked by scary things on the telly. Everyone south (which is actually everyone when you live at the north pole) has been wearing face masks and washing hands to avoid catching the swijn flu. Being a bit of a Dutch hypochondriac, Bart thought it would be a good idea to offer protection from every sort of sickness including the flu and oilarrhea - especially Santa.
After the third truck load of hand sanitizer arrived at the elves' dock, Santa raised an eyebrow. “Bart, what's with all of this sanitizer?”
“Everyone needs to be safe this year and stay germ-free! So I thought we could pack sanitizer in all of the gifts,” Bart defended.
“Do you know how much extra weight that will add to my sleigh? As it is, I can't seem to find the hydraulic oil,” Santa replied.
To which Bart blurted out, “Santa, you don't need any more oil! Besides, you have bigger problems. Mrs. Klaus is still missing with Donner, Blitzen, and the back-up sleigh. The elves are almost out of clean clothes. You can't find your sleigh keys, and nobody's cooking. You're losing so much weight that your trousers keep falling down and people around the Pole are starting to talk!”
You see, Bart gets a little defensive when his motives are questioned, and he wanted to change the subject from that whole oil fiasco.
“Santa”, Bart exclaimed, “why don't you go with Dasher and Comet in the training sleigh to Algoma to shop for the Thanksgiving turkey. Pick up some Wisconsin Cranberry wine from von Stiehl while you're there. They're having a 'buy 3 get the fourth bottle free' sale from the 16th through the 25th of November. Maybe you can keep an eye out for Mrs. Klaus on your way there. I hear she's somewhere between us and Algoma.”
Dancer told Bart that Blitzen sent him a text saying “outsd log cabin, MrsK gting dbl mocha”.
Let's help Bart piece these clues together to find Mrs. Klaus before it's too late! Every week this month, we will post a hint with a wine special on our blog. If you’re one of the first twelve to e-mail her exact location to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
