Aside from being home to the oldest winery in Wisconsin, Algoma has other attractions. Particularly pleasant is the 15.3 mile Ahnapee State Trail between Algoma and Sturgeon Bay. The trail follows an abandoned railroad line, is mostly flat, and incredibly scenic. The entire trail is easy to cover on a bicycle in one day. You’ll ride through marhes, woods, and lush farmland, and pass the small villages of Forestville and Maplewood.
It goes without saying that you’ll be tired after your day on the Ahnapee State Trail, and ready for refreshment. That’s where we come in. Our Algoma Winery offers tastings every day of the week, and at this time of year, we are open from 9am to 5pm. You can stop in before your ride and select the perfect wine to drink at the half-way point – something cool and refreshing like our Niagara, a semi-sweet white. Or stop by after you’ve logged many miles, and pick up something for the evening – perhaps a bottle of Sparkling Muscat. You are welcome to taste our products, because we want you to buy a bottle that you will enjoy.
