As summer gets closer and closer, we are often reminded of all the great times we enjoyed in previous summers. Maybe it included a lovely stroll down Crescent Beach’s boardwalk, or splashing around in beautiful Lake Michigan. Or maybe if you’re lucky, it included reeling in the big one out on the lake!
No matter how you enjoyed your time over the summer – water played a part. Water is our most vital resource! The Art of Water exhibition put on by James May Gallery, hopes that by celebrating the water on the shores of Lake Michigan that they can also help to better protect it.
The Art of Water exhibition will be on display at various locations throughout Algoma including here at von Stiehl Winery. Other locations include: James May Gallery, JM North, Steele Street Trading Co. Gallery, Jabberwock Gallery and Studio, Clay on Steele and Steele Street Hops.
Opening night of the Art of Water exhibition will be held May 4th from 5:30 to 8pm. The opening night will include art openings at all of the locations above. Art celebrating water from over 100 regional and national artists! Taste of Ethiopia, a pay-it-forward food truck, will be serving some of their local favorites. Waters Edge Artists, painters for preservation, will be plein air painting at James May Gallery from 9am to dusk.
Saturday, May 5th, you will be able to see the art you missed the night before at the various open locations and continue the conversation about water. Waters Edge Artists will be plein air painting at James May Gallery.
All pieces of the Art of Water exhibit will be for sale.
Art of Water exhibition is free for all ages! So bring your family to show them how vital water is.
If you aren’t able to attend opening night, the exhibition will run from May 3rd-May 27th.
