Wines will be paired with small bites designed to showcase the wines and soften their youthful exuberance. While sampling these unique wines\, we encourage you to write comments on how they taste; you’d be surprised at how much change the wine undergoes while in the bottle. \nDuring the 2026 Futures Wine Tasting\, guests are offered the opportunity to secure a number of sought-after wines at special pricing in advance of bottling and subsequent general release. \nWe will have three tasting stations for you to rotate through\, two in our wine production area\, and one in the aging cellars. Groups of 16 will move from station to station. Our winemakers will guide\, entertain\, and answer all of your wine questions at each station. To make their jokes even funnier\, you will enjoy two unique wines at each station.  \nTickets are $40 per person. Online ticket sales will close on May 7th at 5:00 pm. All the questions\, crossed fingers\, and frantic pleading have been answered!  \nOur 2023 von Stiehl Steer Roast is truly a farm-to-table experience like no other! And who better to assist our skilled team of roasters than our friends at Steel Belly BBQ! This year\, our team has been lucky enough to partner up with Steel Belly BBQ to not only provide our steer roast attendees with delicious von Stiehl wine\, but to also serve up locally raised steer with the skill and TLC from Russ Nockerts\, owner and head pitmaster of Steel Belly BBQ! As our head winemaker\, Aric Schmiling prepares a wine marinade\, Russ and our team of talented roasters take the time to ensure that every juicy inch of the steer is served to perfection.  \nA portion of this year’s event’s proceeds will also be going to the Wolf Den non-profit organization at the Algoma High School. Wolf Den is an after school program aimed at improving the physical\, social\, and emotional well-being of Algoma’s youth. Wolves (high school students) plan and lead various activities\, which build Pups’ (elementary students) resilience\, positive mindset\, and basic life skills. DESCRIPTION:von Stiehl’s Futures Wine Tasting is offered for those who want the exclusive chance to taste upcoming releases before bottling. \nThe wines are presented by our winemakers in our intimate\, 150-year-old wine tunnels at the winery and our production facility. Wines will be paired with small bites designed to showcase the wines and soften their youthful exuberance. While sampling these unique wines\, we encourage you to write comments on how they taste\, you’d be surprised at how much change the wine undergoes while in the bottle. \nDuring the Futures Wine Tastings\, guests are offered the opportunity to secure a number of sought-after wines at special pricing in advance of bottling and subsequent general release. \nWe will have three tasting stations for you to rotate through\, two in our wine production area\, and one in the aging cellars. Groups of 15 will move from station to station. Our winemakers will guide\, entertain\, and answer all of your wine questions at each station. To make their jokes even funnier\, you will enjoy two unique wines at each station. \nAfter you have finished your Futures Wine Tasting\, please join us on the Terrace as we will have live music performed by Fork In The Road Band from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. \nTickets are $35 per person and once you register we will send you the link to sign up for your time slot. \nOnline ticket sales will close on August 1st at 5:30 pm. Bryersquart is family to one of the winery owners. The steer is well cared for by Scott Jeanquart\, a genetic expert\, who is growing one of Door County’s finest herds. His animals and embryos are sold at auction to buyers in the United States and beyond. \n\nWHY IS THE STEER ROAST CALLED THE “BREWVINO ROAST?”\nThis steer is raised on Ahnapee Brewery(Opens in new window) spent grains at the Bryersquart Family Farm(Opens in new window) (Brew). Prior to the roast\, the steer is bathed in a cherry wine marinade (Vino). This is a true farm-to-table experience! And not just anybody is preparing this feast. For starters\, the steer is processed by Otto’s Meats(Opens in new window) in Luxemburg. von Stiehl Winemaker\, Aric Schmiling\, prepares the special cherry and red wine marinade. Then\, the full carcass is marinated for 24 hours prior to the steer roast. The roast begins with a hot fire at 3 am on the day of the event\, with a serving time somewhere between noon and 1 pm.

DESCRIPTION:— \nThe 19th Annual Wet Whistle Wine Festival has been canceled for everyone’s safety. Thank you for your interest in the event. Please still visit us when it is safe to do so.\n— \nWet Whistle Wine Fest offers award-winning wines\, a grape stomp\, hearty sandwiches\, & live music! It isn’t the 2\,000 visitors smiling all the time that’s weird. Nor is it the trombonist standing in a grape-filled barrel while playing an amazing riff\, nor the people with sticky purple feet dancing onstage. This is normal at a wine fest and to be expected. What’s odd at Wet Whistle Wine Fest are all the costumes. We don’t ask anyone to show up dressed as wine bottles\, or happy nuns who love Naughty Girl wine. These are just a couple examples of Wet Whistle Wine Fest goings-on that we just couldn’t make up. Don’t take our word for it… come to the wine fest and see it for yourself! \nThis Wet Whistle Wine Fest is a fundraiser for the Community Improvement of Algoma\, and the Algoma Fire and Rescue. Come out to support these great non-profit organizations of Algoma! \nFRIDAY\n\nFree admission\, but canned food donations for Kewaunee County Food Pantry are welcome! The only exception is for service dogs. \nHow do I get to stomp? \nDue to many individuals wanting to be a part of the grape stomp\, we have a random drawing system in place to pick those lucky individuals. You will need to be present to get your chance. The grape stomp heats are 12:20pm\, 1:30pm\, and 3pm. With our Grand Grape Stomp Off at 4:30pm. \nThis looks fun\, can I be a vendor? \nAs of 2017\, we no longer have vendors at the Wet Whistle Wine Fest. \nAre carry-ins allowed? \nFood and drink carry-ins are not allowed\, as this is a fundraiser for the Community Improvement of Algoma.
