Captain’s Red is a great wine to enjoyed mulled because it is a highly quaffable off-dry red that is smooth and supple with low tannins.  This easygoing vino finishes nicely with an ecstatic flair of black cherry, elderberry, and raspberry that heighten the flavors when mulled. In fact, mulled Captain’s Red is so good that mulled wine might replace your Sunday morning Mimosa or Saturday morning coffee. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

3 tbl Ground Cinnamon

2 tsp Ground Ginger

2 tsp Ground Nutmeg

1 tsp Ground Allspice

1 tsp Ground Cloves

1 bottle of  Captain’s Red

Combined all ingredients and heat on LOW until hot.

It will take about an hour for it to get hot. Resist the urge to heat on HIGH so that you don’t boil the alcohol away and to give the spices time to permeate the beverage.

Reduce heat to WARM and serve.

Mulled wine actually improves as it sits; the flavors mellow and the spices perfume the whole house.
