Our Algoma winery is a fan of local creativity so we love it when we hear about the arts flourishing in our area. A favorite near Algoma is The Flying Pig, a fun and inspiring gallery and green space. They have beautiful gardens along Lake Michigan’s shore, and large interior windows make for a bright space with splendid views. Inside and out, The Flying Pig features the quirky, fun and distinctive artwork of regional, national and international artists. See garden art, fine sculptures, unique furniture, beauteous two dimensional work and more. Get ideas and buy an original piece to take home! Periodically, a variety of events and classes at The Flying Pig are offered. Previous classes have included polymer clay, metal jewelry making and digital art.
It’s altogether a lovely place to visit, made all the more comfortable with a bar offering coffee, tea, beer and fine wines. Co-owners Susan Connor and Robyn Mulhaney invite visitors to explore and enjoy their Algoma gallery and gardens. They and a host of helpers (all of them are “the favorite employee”) provide hospitality, maintenance and all-around assistance to keep this place special.
Located at N6975 State Hwy 42, The Flying Pig is about 2.5 miles south of the winery–less than a five-minute drive away! From May to October, they’re open seven days a week, 10 am to 5 pm. Hours change during the winter months. For more information, call (920) 487-9902 or visit TheFlyingPig.biz.
