Wine Fest – What you want to know

Below are most of the facts. Now they don’t sound like anything that you can’t find at other wine fests. So if you’re wondering why you want to drop $20 per couple to go on the wine fest grounds for one day, then pay for all of your wine and food on top of that, here’s the scoop. It’s crazy. Not crazy in a bad way. Just crazy. There are the 7′ wine bottle costumes, multiple groups with funny matching shirts and painted wine glasses, the guy with the wine scepter, chain smoking nuns drinking Naughty Girl wine, the elderly ladies dancing on the tables. There’s just stuff at this event that you don’t see at other festivals and we have no idea why. The funnest part for me is during the grape stomps. Just about the entire crowd has a smile on. It’s fun, it’s funny, you’ll make friends (if you want to), and you’ll remember this as a unique festival. If it’s not unique, then please let me know. I’d love to attend another event like this.

One more thing. Please bring a designated driver. Wine hits most people hard when it’s consumed all day. We don’t want anyone to get hurt or go past their limits. Having a sober person to take care and watch out for everyone else is the best thing that you can do to ensure the day doesn’t end badly. Remember, crazy fun!

There are a lot of things to do and places to go. At the winery, find…

•Complimentary wine tasting of our top 16 varieties in a white tent in front of the winery on 115 Navarino Street

•$5 Select tastings including our high end wines in Riedel stemware inside the winery

•Wine and Chocolate, and wine and cheese pairings in a black tent outside the winery

•Self-guided tours of both winery buildings

On the wine fest grounds, find…

•Wine by the glass and bottle

•Food by the Farm Market Kitchen

•Complimentary admission on Friday night

•$10 admission for Saturday. The entire admission and grounds event is a fundraiser for the Community Improvement of Algoma and Farm Market Kitchen.

•Celebrity and regular grape stomps throughout the day on Saturday

•Fine art fair on Saturday (just outside the grounds). Some artists may set up Friday night too.
