Ridges Sanctuary Hosts Door County Festival of Nature

April 29, 2013 by

The Door County Festival of Nature is your opportunity to learn more about the wildflowers, geology, birds and insects of our peninsula. During field trips and hands-on programs, guides will walk you through some of the most pristine and unique natural areas in the county. Many of these areas are not typically open to the public and can only be accessed during this special event, taking place from May 23 -25, 2013. Conservation organizations in Door County will share ways in which they are working to preserve our rich natural heritage for the future. Along the way, you’ll have an opportunity to share your love of the natural world with other conservation-minded participants from all over the Midwest.

Spring is a great time to experience the natural wonder of Door County. Migrating warblers and other songbirds return to the peninsula and shorebirds gather on our lakes and bays. Wildflowers are opening out into the spring sunshine. Come join us!

A Luncheon for Ladies

November 7, 2011 by

It’s no secret that we love wine here at von Stiehl, our Algoma, Wisconsin, Winery. We believe that our wine can stand alone. That said, it need also be noted that food brings out the best in wine. Together, food and wine make life worth living.

We offer wine and cheese pairings and wine and chocolate pairings in the tasting room of our Wisconsin Winery. These are tasty, but they really just whet the appetite. If cheese and wine can taste so good together, how would roast chicken and vegetables taste with wine, or filet mignon? The possibilities are endless. The mind reels.

Next weekend, let us cook for you. Join us for our Ladies of the Vine Fall Gourmet Luncheon, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The day begins with a tour of “Over There”, our new production facility. We’ll then move to our rathskeller, where we’ll enjoy a 5 course luncheon. Each course will be paired with one of our Wisconsin Wines.

This is an event for ladies. Call your closest friends, your co-workers, your sisters and cousins. Call your mother. Call your daughter. Spend a few hours in good company, enjoying good food and good wine. If you’re hesitating, ask yourself “Why not?”.

Please call 1.800.955.5208 to make your reservation.

Von Stiehl Harvest Luncheon

October 24, 2011 by

Our livelihood depends on a good fall harvest (and of course the subsequent creation of our Algoma, Wisconsin, wine) Maybe that’s why we take so much pleasure in celebrating the fall harvest here at our Algoma, Wisconsin winery.

Members of our Ladies of the Vine club are invited to a Harvest Luncheon on November 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is just $34.99 per person.

The Harvest Luncheon includes:

  • A Tour of our Algoma, Wisconsin Winery, including our newly remodeled “old spaces”, the rathskeller and the tunnel, and our new production facility, affectionately known as “Over There”.
  • A wine reception.
  • A five-course tapas luncheon inspired by the harvest and paired with five of our Wisconsin wines, selected to complement each dish.

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit with old friends and make new friends. It’s easy to become a member of Ladies of the Vine. All you have to do is attend one of our LOTV events. Space is limited, so RSVP ASAP. Call 1.800.955.5208.

July Events at von Stiehl Wisconsin Winery

July 7, 2011 by

Several super fun events are on the horizon at our Algoma Wisconsin Winery. Algoma is located at the gateway to Door County, on the shores of Lake Michigan. It is a small town with a big personality, and we think it’s worth a visit. This Saturday, July 9, 2011, is our annual Ladies’ Fest. It runs for 8 hours and you and your friends are welcome to stay the whole time. There will be massages, cool vendors, chocolate, and plenty of Wisconsin Wine. You’ll lunch, learn to belly dance, and listen to great music by The Kerry Michaels Duo and The Mulligans. Doors open to the ladies at 11 a.m.

Friends having fun at the 2010 Ladies’ Fest.

The following Saturday, July 16, is the first of our Summer Cuisine Concert Series on the Terrace. We welcome the John Lambert Trio for an afternoon of “solid rock on the cutting edge”. We anticipate hearing both original songs and favorite covers as we sip Wisconsin Wine on our lovely new terrace. The music lasts from noon to 4 p.m. Keith Abler will perform at our Cuisine Concert Series on Saturday July 23, 2011. Keith asks only that he never be taken seriously. With that in mind, the afternoon is sure to be delightfully amusing; oh yes, there will be good music, too. As always, our Cuisine Concert Series run from noon to 4 p.m. on the terrace of our Algoma Wisconsin Winery. See The Bluegills live at von Stiehl on July 30th. The weather may be a bit steamy by then, and this trio of Chicago-style blues players will help you chill out. We not only pair great wine with the music during our Cuisine Concert Series, we also pair great food. Consider it a holistic experience, and enjoy. Algoma is the perfect place to stop and refuel (both your transportation and yourself) on the way to Door County this summer. It is also a great spot in and of itself. Arrive by car, boat, or bike. Stay for an hour or a week, and while you’re here, we hope you’ll swing by von Stiehl Wisconsin Winery for a tour, a taste, and maybe some live music and food.
