Von Stiehl Door County Distillery spirits offerings capture the flavor of early America, when extremely small batches and homemade recipes fueled the spirit of innovation. Spirits are produced with local Wisconsin ingredients and are bottled onsite in Algoma, Wisconsin. Purchase them to go, try them in a flight, or taste them in one of our delicious cocktails. The Heart of Our Distillery
Every great spirit begins with exceptional equipment, and at von Stiehl, we invested in just that. Our ABE 300-Gallon Hybrid Pot Still with Column and Condenser is the beating heart of our distillery operation — a purpose-built machine that gives our master distiller precise control over every batch we produce.
The hybrid pot still design is significant. A traditional pot still excels at capturing rich, complex flavors and the natural character of raw ingredients — it’s the reason our cherry brandy tastes like Door County in a bottle. The column component adds refinement and efficiency, allowing us to dial in clarity and consistency across spirits like our premium gin and vodka. Together, they give us the flexibility to craft everything from robust, aged brandies to clean, crisp clear spirits, all under one roof in Algoma.
Powering it all is a Rite 76 S Low Pressure Steam Boiler delivering 760,000 BTU of input heat — enough to bring our full 300-gallon charge to temperature with precision and reliability. Steam-fired distillation is widely regarded as the gold standard in the industry because it provides even, controllable heat that protects delicate flavor compounds and prevents scorching. The result is a smoother, cleaner distillate from the very first run.
Supporting the still is a full suite of ancillary tanks and support systems that allow us to manage fermentation, cuts, and aging with the same care and attention we bring to our winemaking. From the first fermentation bubble to the final bottle seal, we’re excited to produce spirits right here in Algoma.

Cherry Bounce Cask-Aged Bourbon
Crafted meticulously from Wisconsin-grown ingredients. Expertly blended from four and six-year-old Bourbon Whiskeys aged in one Cherry Bounce barrel for 8+ months. Famous Door County Montmorency cherries are fermented on-site and distilled, then aged in used bourbon barrels to give this brandy its signature color and taste. Grape pomace from our single varietal wines is distilled, then aged for four years in used bourbon barrels. The spent seeds and skins provide an excellent base for fruit and floral notes in the grappa, while the oak aging provides hints of hazelnuts and dark chocolate.
